It was the day everyone was waiting for: Sunday 30th April 2017 – Stourbridge Baseball’s Opening Day!

Opening Day is the first day of the BBF’s baseball league and we kicked off with both the Titans and the Tomahawks playing away and by launching our new-look website to boot!

The Titans played their first league game against our neighbours the Birmingham Bandits, putting in a valiant effort and a great game of baseball following a successful spring training but still came out with a loss. The Titans will square up against the Bandits again on the 4th June at home on Gibson Field. You wouldn’t want to miss what is always an exciting and intense doubleheader!

The Tomahawks made their baseball debut on Opening Day against the Northants Centurions, giving a lot of Stourbridge rookies their first taste of league baseball. Even after suffering a loss, the Tomahawks came away with a positive attitude and some much-needed experience under their belt. This weekend the Tomahawks will be travelling to Leicester to play the East Midlands Wolfpack.

Need plans for the weekend? Well, the Stourbridge Titans be playing their next league game this Sunday 7th May against Leicester Blue Sox at our home, Gibson Field. Grab your sun cream and your family and friends and we’ll see you for the first pitch at 12pm and what is forecast to be a stunning afternoon of baseball.

It’s coming! The day we all have circled on our calendars is 30th April – Opening Day for Stourbridge Baseball club – and we cannot believe it’s THIS Sunday!

Spring training has flown by so we are chomping at the bit to show the Midlands exactly what Stourbridge is made of.

The Stourbridge Titans are back this season, kicking off on Opening Day with a doubleheader away at Birmingham Bandit’s home field in Marston Green. The Titans and the Bandits have a history of great games together so there’s no better team to face in the first league game of 2017.

If you thought Opening Day couldn’t get more exciting than that, it’ll astound you to hear that Stourbridge Tomahawks will be making their debut this Sunday also away against Northants Centurions. The Tomahawks are a new team to the BBF leagues in 2017 and they are ready to hit the ground running (or walking) and make an impact this year in the AAA Division.

And you may have noticed our lovely new website as well which is making its debut this week to mark what will be a historic week for Stourbridge Baseball and baseball fans in the Black Country.

    Go Titans! Go Tomahawks!

Stourbridge travelled to Leicester for Game 1 of spring training against Milton Keynes Bucks. Whilst our home team hosted Taunton Tigers Baseball Club for a pre-season friendly double header.

Both teams performed well and whilst the scores were unfavourable the day was enjoyed by all. To top off a great days baseball under clear skies and warm sun was our tea-time BBQ.

Our thanks go out to everyone for their shining team spirit and eagerness to help. With a special thanks to Amy Hemmings, Promotion Officer for organising, hosting and cooking. Karl Ensor for 2nd chef, Luke Reagan for 3rd chef. To all everyone for contributing.

Here's a few images from the day.

We had the great pleasure of hosting Sheffield Bladerunners for our first Spring Training Games on Sunday 26th March.  We know it's a distance to travel so we all made the most of the time and weather to fit two warm training session games into the day.

It was a great chance to take the field and see our rookies perform in game.  Neither sides disappointed with some tight innings.

    Game 1:

    Stourbridge Titans 8 - 5 Sheffield Bladerunners

    Game 2:

    Stourbridge Titans 5 - 5 Sheffield Bladerunners
