Our second game saw Wolverhampton Wolves visit Gibson Field in our first home game of the season.  Field prep was done and the first pitch was thrown.

Here's what Game Changer said about the game:

The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where Wolverhampton Wolves came out on top against Titans, 16-10.

The Titans struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Wolverhampton Wolves, giving up 16 runs.

Wolverhampton Wolves captured the lead in the second inning. Jackal Luk lined out, scoring one run.

Wolverhampton Wolves took the lead for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Alan Edgington grounded out, scoring one run.

Titans notched four runs in the eighth inning. Karl Ensor, Adam Marusiak, and Paul Insley all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Wolverhampton Wolves scored six runs in the fifth inning. Piotr Maculewicz, Jacob Orpe, Luk, Luke Weale, and Cory Millard all drove in runs in the frame.

Millard pitched Wolverhampton Wolves to victory. They lasted seven and a third innings, allowing nine hits and ten runs while striking out five. Nathan Weale threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Ensor took the loss for Titans. They allowed four hits and eight runs over four innings, striking out two.

Titans had nine hits in the game. Aaron Willetts and Aaron Drew all collected multiple hits for Titans. Drew and Willetts each collected two hits to lead Titans.

  • on 28-Apr-2019 Opening Day 2019 Game 1 vs Worcester Sorcerers

    Tags:

Opening Day has come and gone.  3 hours of baseball saw 7 full innings played at Merlin Field home to the Worcester Sorcerers.  An overcast day kept the sun and rain at bay.  The day started with Worcester Mayor throwing out the ceremonial first pitch for the Sorcerers.

The game strarted great for both sides with Titans grabbing a couple of early runs which were equalled by the Sorcerers.  It took until the end of the 2nd for Titans to grab a small lead with 3 runs to Sorcerers 1.

The 3rd saw Sorcerers defense held back the Titans and their offense took advantage and brought home 2 runs to tie the game.  Titans dug in and grab another couple of runs but the Sorcerers worked their magic and took the lead with some aggressive base running, score at the end of the 4th 7-10.

Titans rallied their efforts and scored 3 runs in the 5th to level the game back up and only conceded 1 run leaving the game as close as it was at the start.  10-11 at the end of the 5th inning.

The sixth inning began with 2 quick outs with 1 on base.  Titans raised their game and pushed hard with 2 outs putting the ball in play and adding 7 to their score. The Sorcerers were duly held back with a 1-2-3 inning from Stuart Walton with no runs to answer the Titans rally.  Score at the end of the 6th 17-11.

The 7th was called as the last inning and the ball was in play.  Titans pushed another 4 runs in increasing their lead to 21 with only 1 run for the Sorcerers.  The game ended 21-12.

You can check out the game on Game Changer for more details and stats.

Rookies, Lee Roberts, Harry Leake, Jamie Perkins and Dale Perkins making their baseball debuts all performed exceptionally well.  Lee Roberts hitting a single to bring in Harry Leake in the 6th hitting 1.000. Jamie Perkins, Dale Perkins and Harry Leake both hitting .333.

Well done Worcester Sorcerers for hosting the opening day game for West Midlands Baseball League.  Merlin Field is a magical place and a great baseball field.

A huge thank you to all our players and scorer.  An even bigger thank you to the Umpire of the Day, Shaun Healy.  We all appreciate the time and effort of everyone who helps make game days possible and providing everything they do to give us a game to play.

  • on 15-May-2018 New batter to the plate

Whilst we loving posting things on twitter and facebook but not so much here.  This one needs a little more kudos.

Titans faced Cambridge Monarchs on Sunday 13th May.  Cambridge are new to the Central AA Division but certainly not new to baseball.

Both games were hard fought and close during the early innings but sadly we succumbed to better bats and scores quickly crept out of reach.

That's not to say the day wasn't full of positives.

Titans showed solid defence with numerous worked pick offs and run downs during the both games. Outfield catching was on point from rookie Lee Jackson (2 for 3) and veteran Chris Hunton and Kevin Wilson (3 for 3).

Our highlight goes to Jack Eustace from game 2.  Our freshed footed 2nd season young rookie player went 2 for 3 at the plate, both right field hits, bringing in 1 of the 2 runs scored along with a stolen base. It doesn't get much bigger.
